This course is designed for nurses who desire to explore using technology to improve performance. Experience the technology and learn what is available. Convince yourself you can do all of the activities with the help of the just-in-time viewlets. If you encounter barriers in the future realize how to access the just-in-time tidbits to help you. You do not have to learn the material. You need to learn what material is available. Experience the material.

 

The goal is to take the mystery out of using technology. Improving nurses technology skills is known to improve patient outcomes and to improve access to education. If you increase your ability to work online you will expand your options for advanced education, your options to work at sedentary jobs as you near retirement and you will have the opportunity to rest your feet and let your fingers do the work.

 

It is anticipated the nursing shortage may reach 750,000 nurses in 2020.  What would happen if each nurse retiring was able to do a sedentary healthcare job and delay retirement five years by teaching online or conducting healthcare electronically?  Actually, we could add 158,000 nurses to the work force. Are you one of them? Do you know nurses in this situation?
